According Nikkan Sports Marco van Basten is one of the candidates to coach the Japanese national team.

The Japanese football association have been looking for the new man to lead the team since Takeshi Okada left his post after 2010 World Cup.

Although Van Basten is considered number 1 choice, there are a few more names appearing in the media, including Ernesto Valverde and Victor Fernandez.

Marco van Basten has been out of business for over a year now when he left Ajax during a disappointing season 2008/2009.
